In the future there will be more information on file formats, and general hacking info. For now you can get the latest version of MakeIndex here.

I recently wrote a web app that replaces the functionality provided by makeindex. In my opinion it is much easier to use, especially if you're not familiar with console applications like makeindex.
Please click on the following link that matches the index file you're interested in editing if you would like to use this tool instead.

You may use makeindex at your own risk.
I am not responsible if you lock up your phone.

How to use MakeIndex build 0.1.10 (Does NOT work with Verizon phones!):

HandsetRingtoneImage
CDM-8900 makeindex -h 8900 -r <ringtone filename>
makeindex -h 8900 -i <image filename>
LG 5450 makeindex -h 5450 -r <ringtone filename> -x <index>
makeindex -h 5450 -i <image filename> -x <index>

Caveats for the CDM-8900
  • images should be dumped into /br/im/img and rings should be dumped into /ur/sn/rng.
  • filenames should be 16 characters or less, and should NOT include the path.
  • the name of the file you supply to makeindex should match the name that you upload to the handset.

  • USB Driver for CDM-8900
    Curitel USB Driver Version 4.10
